MCII launched its new CLIMER programme on the sidelines of COP 29!
In its inaugural session, participants of this new network for young professionals came together to engage with Mr. Lesley Ndlovu (CEO of ARC Ltd.) and learned about his journey as a leader in the CDRFI community.
Introducing: CLIMER – Fostering the next generation of climate actors!
Currently, within CDRFI decision-making processes, younger representation is urgently needed. Opportunities for capacity-building networks tailored towards young insurance and climate risk professionals from both, the Global South and North are lacking. Until now, there were not that many platforms directly facilitating interactions among young professionals globally.
This is where we step in.
We want to connect young professionals in the Global South and North to foster knowledge and experience sharing, initiating closer collaboration and exchange to support wider personal and professional growth. In order to achieve this, we have initiated and are hosting the first global network for aspiring young leaders working in the various fields of climate and disaster risk finance and insurance. CLIMER is a groundbreaking network of fellow young professionals that want to advance the agenda of CDRFI, where you can become a changemaker within the insurance industry, as well as key national and international processes.
Our new programme combines “CLIMBER”, representing career progression, with “ME”, highlighting the personal focus of the programme. We aim to empower the climers to shape their journey in a way that maximizes their individual growth and contribution the broader CDRFI sphere. It provides a unique opportunity to benefit from capacity building and training, to learn from peers, hear from world-leading experts, engage with the wider MCII Membership, help shape the network and its future, and establish new relationships with industry partners and practitioners.
These are the four learning pillars of CLIMER:
